White the most obvious way to earn money from your web site is thru e-commerce….selling your products or services online, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other means.

• Affiliate Programs – Thousands of them exist, in almost every niche imaginable. If your site gets a fair amount of traffic and you can find the right affiliate programs to promote (and especially if they match/enhance your content), you can earn a nice profit from these without doing anything.

You may find an affiliate program to be a good alternative to selling your product. In this situation you are still able to offer an online store and instead of all the work involved in setting up shopping carts, entering products and then packing/shipping them to your customers; you get to sit back and let someone else do all the work while you get a percentage of each sell (anywhere from maybe 5% to as much as 35% or more).

• Banner Space – We can build your site in such a way that certain blocks of space in the “skin” or template of the site can be used to place banner ads. These can be something like Google AdSense, where you get a small amount paid to you per click, or it can be space you sell to others.

• Co-Ops – We’ve had a few clients who were able to have a substantial amount of their web site build and fees covered by a cooperative agreement with one of the dealers/partners.

In one particular instance a company had one of their major manufacturers pay 50% of their total web site starting costs covered in exchange for a “skyscraper graphic” banner that was placed on each page of their site advertising the manufacturers products. The great thing about this situation was that the client would have dedicated the same amount of screen space advertising the manufacturers products regardless of the agreement in place.
